Choosing the Right Stone for Kitchen Countertops in Michigan

A kitchen counter takes more abuse than any other surface in the house: hot pans, knives, spills, kids doing homework. Every material we carry holds up to daily use, they just trade off look, maintenance and budget differently. Here is the short version, and we are happy to walk you through slabs in person.

Speckled grey and white granite countertop with a stainless steel double-bowl sink and oak cabinets

Granite

Natural stone with real depth and no two slabs alike. Very heat and scratch resistant, needs a periodic seal. Our granite runs from budget-friendly Group A colors like Black Pearl and Steel Grey up to bold Group C statement slabs.

U-shaped kitchen with light speckled quartz countertops and warm oak cabinetry

Quartz

Engineered stone with a consistent pattern and zero sealing. The easy choice for busy family kitchens. Popular picks include Calacatta-style whites, Verna, Black Swan and Grey River.

Large kitchen island countertop with dramatic honey-toned veining and white cabinetry

Quartzite

Natural stone that is harder than granite and often looks like marble. Our top tier, with slabs like Taj Mahal, for homeowners who want a showpiece island that can actually be cooked on.

White kitchen cabinets with brass hardware and taupe veined stone countertops and backsplash

Marble

The classic high-end look with soft, elegant veining. Softer and more porous than granite, so it suits homeowners who like a surface that develops character over time and do not mind sealing.

How Your Kitchen Countertop Project Works

Most kitchens go from templating to installed countertops in one to three weeks, depending on scheduling and how complex the layout is.

01

Free Estimate

Send us your rough measurements or a cabinet drawing and we price it out for free, with no obligation. Material, edge, cutouts and tear-out all spelled out up front.

02

Pick Your Slab

Visit our Roseville showroom and yard to see full slabs, not just small samples. If we do not stock the color you want, we source it from our suppliers.

03

Templating

Once your cabinets are in, our team measures on site for a precise template, marks sink, cooktop and faucet locations and plans the seams and vein flow.

04

Fabrication & Install

We cut, edge and polish your countertops in our shop, then our own crew installs them, seals natural stone and leaves the kitchen clean. Old countertop removal is available too.

The Details That Make a Kitchen

The slab gets the attention, but the details are what you live with every day. We handle all of them in-house.

Islands, Seams & Vein Matching

Large islands and L-shaped runs are laid out so seams land in the least visible spots, and veins flow from the counter into a matching full-height backsplash.

Edge Profiles

Eased, beveled, ogee or a dramatic waterfall edge that runs the stone down the side of the island. We help you pick the profile that fits the style of the kitchen.

Cutouts & Backsplashes

Undermount and farmhouse sinks, cooktops, faucet and soap holes, plus matching 4 inch or full-slab backsplashes, all cut to fit your fixtures.

Kitchen Countertop FAQs

How much do new kitchen countertops cost?

It depends on the slab group, square footage, edge profile and cutouts. Group A granite is our most affordable option, quartzite sits at the top. The fastest way to a real number is a free quote based on your layout.

Granite or quartz for a kitchen?

Both are excellent. Granite is natural, very heat resistant and one of a kind, but needs periodic sealing. Quartz is consistent, non-porous and never needs sealing. If you cook a lot with hot pans, lean granite; if you want zero maintenance, lean quartz.

How long does a kitchen countertop install take?

Most kitchens move from templating to installation within one to three weeks, depending on scheduling and how complex the job is.

Do you remove my old countertops?

Yes. Tell us during your estimate and we include removal and disposal of the old tops in the quote.

Can I see the actual slab before it is cut?

Yes, and for natural stone we recommend it, since pattern can vary a lot from lot to lot. Come to the Roseville yard and pick the exact slab for your kitchen.
